1020 miles and 17 hours in the car later, I'm in the Bay Area. Holy Moly.
Holy Moly I leave tomorow!!! So so so so so excited! Let the festivities begin.
I think one of the best parts abou taking a road trip is making the mixes that go along with the trip. Nathan and I are going to put about 2,000 miles (about 3220 km) on my car in the coming weeks. With that being said, we're going to need LOTS of music. It's been a long process, but tremendous progress is being made. The Second CD is just about done, and I think I can squeeze out a third mix to bring along with all the other CDs I plan to pack.
Less than a week till departure!!!
Blaaaahhh!
So much to do today...
I have the day off, but all I'm going to do is work, how is that a day off?
In order to prepare for my forthcoming trip there are several things I must take care, the first and foremost being LAUNDRY! This is a mjor hassle now that I live in a place without a washer and dryer. Nathan and Sarah pay a flat fee for utilities and have a washer and dryer so I go to their house. I usually have a few loads to do at a time, so it takes a while, but free is free!
I also have to clean their house. They let me have my Eureka JameStock party at their house, and now their kitchen floor is gross. They have been house sitting and haven't cleaned their real house, so I'm going to. It's the least I could do for them.
I also need to wash my car. It has literally been a year or more, and frankly, it is becoming a safety hazard. When I drove down south last week, I was thinking, "I can't really see out of my windows, this is bad." Speaking of the car, it's time for an oil change too.
After all that I can put together my totally awesome road mixes for the road trips ahead. Much music will be needed. Any suggestions?
So the surprise visit to SLO was a total success! My parents had no idea, but were very excited.
The drive home on Tuesday wasn't too bad, but man it was a long time to be in the car by myself. I'll fully admit that when I'm on the road, I'll go through spells of not talking, but this was rediculous. It was however, good training for August 22, when Nathan and I drive all the way from the Gorge to the Bay Area, holy crap that will be fun.
When I got home on Tuesday Kelly and I headed up to McKinleyville where Nathan and Sarah are house sitting. Doug, Matt, Sarah and Matt all came too. We partied and BBQ'd. It was a lot of fun. Nathan and Sarah scored me a copy of The Rock, but it's the criterion collection one with all kinds of special stuff, I've been wanting it. Kelly got me a pair of my own bowling shoes, ROCK! Matt hooked me up with an Orange County Choppers coloring/ activity book. Overall, it was a really great birthday.
