blog time!
July 3: I SAW THE WHO!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I had been working all day and got home around 6:15, cell phone has eleven missed calls, and the regular phone has a blinking red light. "James, it's Nathan. I'm going to shoreline right now, if you want to see The Who, you have about 15 minutes before we get to the lot and sell the extra ticket. It's The Who and it's free, so call us!" I picked up the phone, they had just left the house. I had enough time for a 6 minute shower, ate a hot dog and they were here. We found our seats on the lawn just as The Counting Crows had started their set. They were OK, but nothing I would go out of my way to see again. The Who was really cool though. I had never been too familiar with them but there were a few songs that I knew, and a couple more that I had heard, but didn't know it was by The Who. Overall I had a great time!
July 4: The fourth was cool. My godparents live on the coast about 30 mins from where I live, and their daughter was born on the fourth. Every year they have a huge birthday celebration. We haven't been able to make it the past few years however so we went this year. It was really cool getting to see them. There were alot of familiar faces, some I had names for others I did not, but it was cool. The fourth of July also happens to be Sarah and Jessica's birthday. They were having a family party with friends as well. It was over in Danville which is all the way across the bay from where I was. Got home around 4:00 picked up a couple buddys and we made our way to the East Bay. It was a really nice party. We played bocce ball! It was awesome. We also played Mafia, which is a role playing game that involves cards and groups of 10 or more. It was awesome. After two games of Mafia we headed home.
July 13: TOOOOOOOOOOOL! Holy Shit! Everyone must see Tool at least once in their life. It is seriously a religious experience. I had like 5 multiple orgasms. We got tickets for the Sacto show so drove up there around 3:30 cause I had to work till 3:00. We met up with our friend Danielle and her boyfriend, grabbed some Del Taco and headed to the Arco Arena. There we were raped a pillaged by the security. 10 fucking bucks to park! I guess I'm spoiled by Shoreline, which, for the most part, does not charge for parking. After parking we got in line to get inside. Security was doing pat downs and seemed to be all serious and bad ass about it. So being the nice guy I am, I go up and smile at the guard. "Please Turn Around." so I do and he proceeds to pat me down. As he's feeling me up I look at Nathan, smile and say "hey, this kind of reminds me of last night baby." Nathan starts laughing. Then I say "You know, you have to pay for this back in San Francisco." The guy asked me to turn around again patted my stomach told me to go in. The show itself was amazing though, best tool show I've seen!
Anyways that's the major update on the recent events of my life. My band is playing on Saturday. We're setting up in the guitarists' house and playing for our friends. We also have a keg of Sierra Nevada. =)
Speaking of beer. I was at Beverags and More on friday and found the coolest beer in the world. It's called Fat Cat and comes in a bright orange package. Has a picture of a cat smoking a cigar on it. The beer itself is also bright orange, kind of disturbing, but it was cool. The coolest part about Fat Cat though, the price. We got a case of it for 10 bucks. That's right folks, 25 cents a beer! Considering how cheap it was, I was pretty impressed. It was the best beer I've had, but it's better than budweiser. Check it out if you can!
